Bowel and bladder care planning and continence management are often overlooked until surveyors identify deficiencies under F690 (Bowel/Bladder Incontinence, Catheter Care) or related tags. Noncompliance frequently stems from inadequate assessments, lack of individualized toileting programs, or failure to prevent unnecessary catheter use. This session will explore CMS expectations for continence care, restorative nursing programs, and documentation to support interventions. Participants will learn strategies to ensure residents receive appropriate bowel and bladder management that enhances quality of life, reduces infection risks, and meets regulatory requirements.
